Service call: Inspection for saddle bolts on older Urban Arrow Family bikes (Satori seatpost)

We have seen a few examples of Satori Trident seatpots on which the bolt of the saddle bridge is broken. Bolt breakage can cause saddle separation,  risking loss of control and rider fall. These seatposts have been specified by Urban Arrow between 2016 and 2021 (Picture 1, Satori seatpost). This situation can happen when the saddle is not mounted correctly to the seatpost, e.g. due to use of the wrong tools by the customer. Seatposts and bolts on new bikes are always mounted correctly and meet all requirements.

An important indicator before this break is the fact that the saddle has shifted backwards. The coating of the saddle bridge will often have been damaged and/or completely disappeared and shows corrosion. When the saddle is no longer mounted properly, excessive stress and fatigue of the bolt can result.

As we continue to investigate the cause of these reports, we ask you as dealer to be alert on this. and to do the following checks/controls/inspections during maintenance and repair of Urban Arrow bikes brought to your workshop.

  • Check if the Urban Arrow has a Satori Trident seatpost

  • Check if the saddle bridge has been damaged (corrosion, coating damaged, visible metal, etc.)

  • If yes, offer to replace the saddle and seatpost for the current specification (Promax seatpost and Selle Royal saddle), these replacements are offered under leniency by Urban Arrow

  • Provide us with photographs of the condition as you found it along with any information you can obtain from the rider about how the bicycle is being used and what, if anything, they attribute the damage to.

This check is an important step to allow us to better understand the cause of these reports. In general you - as dealer - should check proper fitting and mounting of the seatpost and saddle combination during regular maintenance.

Keep the old saddle, the old bolts and the old seat post. Urban Arrow will contact you to pick up the complete set. A new seat post and saddle will be sent to you free of charge.

  1. Keep the old saddle, bolts, and seatpost. Urban Arrow will contact you to collect the complete set.

  2. Install a new seatpost and saddle set (to current specifications), Promax seatpost (380022400) and a Selle Royal saddle (470400200), if you have them in stock, following the instructions. Or have the set shipped to you using the form below.

  3. Please fill out the form below

    • Customer number

    • Name Dealer

    • Frame number of the bike

    • Photo of the seat post (showing the damage)

    • Confirmation that the items have been picked up

    • Any information about users/damages

A new saddle and seatpost (current specifications: Promax seatpost and Selle Royal saddle) will be sent to you free of charge.
